BHIM is the name of UPI app recently launched by India PM Narendra Modi to strengthen the digital economy of India. The app was released on 30th December 2016 at the DigiDhan Mela and the full form of this UPI app is Bharat interface for money. This Aadhaar-based payments app is developed by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) and is ready to download on Android OS. The iOS version of the app is still not launched and will be available in near future.
According to the announcement, the BHIM app will allow users to make cashless payment using their mobile device with other UPI application and bank accounts. Here is the screenshot of BHIM app from Google play store:

How to use BHIM mobile app on Android device?
Goto Google play store (or check below download link) and download the BHIM application. After installing the app successfully it will ask you to select your proffered language between Hindi & English and provides some basic information about application. Check below screenshot:
Verify mobile number
After allowing the access of SMS and Phone State you need to verify your mobile number. You don’t need to add your phone number manually or OTP because the app will automatic verify your number. But, make sure your phone has sufficient balance in it as OTP will be chargeable.
After verifying your number, Bhim app will ask you to enter 4 digit (numerical) pass code.
Select Your Bank
Once you verify with the pass code, the app will ask you to select the Bank you wish to integrate with the BHIM android application. Check below list of banks BHIM app supports and allows you to add money into your wallet from your bank account.

Select Your Account
BHIM app will automatically fetch your account details from Mobile Number and Aadhar card details so all you need to just select your account.
Set UPI Pin
Set last 6 digit number of your debit card and valid date of debit card to add money in your wallet.
BHIM App Features
BHIM app has to offer many features mentioned below:
- Check Balance – Users can check balance and transaction details directly from the BHIM app.
- QR Code – Users can also scan QR code to send money faster. Merchant can also generate and display their QR code to receive money.
- Limit of Transactions – Currently this app allows you to make 10K Rs. per transaction and 20K for 24 hours.
As this is the first version launch of this application, we are expecting to see many more features to be added in BHIM application in the future.
