Lenovo has launched the Vibe K5 Plus smartphone in India which is an upgrade to the popular Lenovo A6000 and A6000 Plus. The company claims that it is a compact and powerful device in the under Rs. 10,000/- category with unmatched multimedia features and provides a full HD experience with SnapDragon 616 power.
The smartphone has a plastic body with a metallic look and will be available in Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver and Graphite Grey. It is also packed with rich multimedia features and is available at an affordable price with full HD display, stereo speakers and more. The 5 inch screen is a perfect fit in the hand and the camera, earpiece and sensors are visible above the display. The phone has a 12.7 cm display in a tapered metal body, a powerful 2GB RAM and a Qualcomm 64-Bit Snapdragon 616 Octacore chipset.
The phone’s rear panel has a large Lenovo logo and the camera on the top right corner, along with an LED flash. The phone has stereo speakers on the rear which have Dolby Atmos enhancement now available with almost all Lenovo phones. The Vibe K5 Plus has physical power button and volume button on the right and the charging port and headphones socket are on the top.

Vibe K5 Plus has a removable 2750mAh battery and thus the back is removable. The phone also has two standard Micro-SIM slots with a separate microSD card slot for expandable storage. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is good for watching movies on TheaterMax and the speakers are good for playing interactive HD games.
The Vibe K5 Plus handles multitasking and app switching well and it also supports 4G on both SIMs. The smartphone comes with LTE Cat 4 which provides a download speed of up to 150Mbps with an upload speed of up to 50Mbps. The phone has additional connectivity features of Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, A-GPS, and Micro-USB.
The smartphone is considered to be the first sub INR 10,000 smartphone that support TheaterMax with a high resolution 441ppi full HD display. The phone provides the perfect cinematic experience when combined with the AntVR headset that is sold separately. There is a sensitive Gyro on the K5 Plus that helps with real-time orientation when for Virtual Reality applications.
The phone has a 13MP rear camera with an f2.2 aperture that is equipped with a 5-piece lens and LED Flash. The 5 MP camera with a f2.8 aperture is good for taking clear selfies. The Vibe K5 Plus is good for clicking pictures in normal indoor lighting.
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus has an Android 5.1 Lollipop with a light version of Vibe UI running on top. The smartphone has a preloaded app Theme Centre that offers various options to customize the look. The Vibe K5 Plus has TheaterMax VR technology to converts standard content into split-screen format in order to look like VR.
The 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 Octacore processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in-storage gives fast performance and easy switch between apps and games. The 2750 mAh battery lasts longer.
The phone is available on non-registration sale exclusively on Flipkart from 23rd March at Rs 8499/-. During the first sale there would be an exclusive exchange and upgrade offer for existing Lenovo A6000 and A6000 Plus users.
Although the phone has some real good features still it will get some stiff competitors from the other sub 10000 phones like Coolpad Note 3 which is priced slightly higher at Rs. 8,999, but has a fingerprint scanner. The Meizu m2 note, priced at Rs. 9,999 will also give stiff competition on price along with the Yu Yureka Plus, priced at Rs. 8,999.
