Pizza delivery by self driving vehicle may become the reality in upcoming days as Ford & Domino’s begin consumer research study on understanding the role of self driving car in Pizza delivery. According to recent official media release; Ford & world’s leading Pizza brand Domino’s are launching first of its kind industry collaboration to study the role of self driving car in Pizza delivery.
They will focus on understanding the customer perspective on food delivery by self driving vehicle. The researcher will also study the customer reaction interacting with self driving vehicle.
“As delivery experts, we’ve been watching the development of self-driving vehicles with great interest as we believe transportation is undergoing fundamental, dramatic change,” said Patrick Doyle, Domino’s president and CEO.
Ford is working on designing self driving car to meet business expectation as well as customer’s experience. They are expecting to start the production by 2021. If the study went well, days are not far when we receive our food via one of such self driving vehicle.
“As we increase our understanding of the business opportunity for self-driving vehicles to support the movement of people and goods, we’re pleased to have Domino’s join us in this important part of the development process,” said Sherif Marakby, Ford vice president, Autonomous and Electric Vehicles.
